Tengile River Lodge
Architects : Nicholas Plewman Architects
Interior Designers : Michele Throssell Interiors
Operator : AndBeyond
Tengile inhabits the space between the ground plane and Riparian forest canopy on a 90° turn in the Sands River. The rooms are orientated to give each room a unique river experience.
Tengile draws inspiration from its historical context and reflects this in the material uses, such as the Selati railway stone floors, railway sleeper clad walls and corten steel. The structure is suspended above the natural ground level and the roofs are covered in sand, allowing the rooms to blend into its surroundings.
